When you think of Brie Larson, chances are her signature long blonde hair comes to mind—not to mention her show-stopping red carpet moments and critically acclaimed Hollywood roles. But let’s circle back to the hair because the 35-year-old actress just unveiled a jaw-dropping transformation. Brie has traded her golden locks for a rich brunette hue and swapped her long lengths for a bold, ultra-short pixie cut—and it’s a look that’s impossible not to talk about.

Larson’s buzzworthy haircut is turning heads on social media. In a series of black-and-white-filtered photos posted by the Captain Marvel star herself, Brie smiles cheekily, showing off her cropped pixie cut styled in a choppy, textured finish. She tagged celebrity hairstylist Cervando Maldonado, the creative mastermind behind the daring cut and hair colorist Jacob Schwartz, who used Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Vibrance demi-permanent color to create the “perfect shade” of brunette for her transformation.

As it turns out, Larson’s dramatic new look wasn’t just a spur-of-the-moment style change. The transformation was for her starring role in the West End revival of Elektra, a fresh take on Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy, set to hit the stage this January. But even with the professional reasons behind the transformation, fans couldn’t help but gush over how stunning she looks with short hair. “This suits you so much. I’m OBSESSED and can’t wait to see you bring Elektra to life in the new year,” a fan commented on Larson’s Instagram post.

Another exclaimed,, “OH MY GOD WHAT ???? YOU’RE ROCKING THAT HAIRSTYLE MA’AM.” And honestly, we couldn’t agree more.
