Uncle Jesse’s hair is back on screen. John Stamos is reuniting with Pantene, more than 30 years after he first appeared in one of its commercials in 1994. If the new campaign is any proof, the hair has barely changed.
The partnership came full circle thanks to Stamos himself. In April, he posted his original Pantene commercial on Instagram (captioned with “call us, Pantene”), and the brand picked up the thread from there. The result is a new comedy campaign that casts Stamos as Pantene’s self-appointed “Ultimate Ambassador.”
In a series of videos, Stamos goes to elaborate lengths to prove that his famously great hair is, and always has been, actually Pantene. The first episode premiered on Oct. 22.
For anyone who grew up in the ’90s, Stamos’ hair needs no introduction. As Jesse Katsopolis on Full House, he spent eight seasons as TV’s most devoted hair-care guy, with a pompadour, a blow-dryer and a mirror never far away. And who could forget that Season 1 mullet, his hair-loss dream sequence and the “nobody touches the hair” catchphrase?
As for what he actually uses, Stamos is a longtime fan of Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo ($12). His new favorite is the Pantene Miracle Rescue Deep Conditioning Treatment ($14).
Stay tuned—new episodes of Pantene’s “Ultimate Ambassador” campaign will roll out over the coming weeks.
