It’s possible in 2026 to build a full-fledged glossary of social media-coined beauty trend names, broken down by subcategory like hair, skin and makeup. (Expensive brunette! Glazed doughnut skin! Mob wife glam!) The fall hair trend climbing the charts right now: “Gucci bangs,” a trend up more than 500 percent in searches year over year, according to the booking platform Fresha.
“Gucci bangs are a type of fringe that achieves a polished, expensive-looking finish, with a softer and more effortless feel than a traditional blunt fringe,” says Annabelle Taurua, beauty expert at Fresha. “Think shaggy, eyebrow-grazing and softly parted, allowing the fringe to blend seamlessly into face-framing layers.”
Luckily, there’s a celebrity who encapsulates the trend, if you’re in need of visual inspo: Dakota Johnson, whose hair is currently styled by celebrity stylist Mark Townsend. “[Her] recent soft, brow-skimming fringe is the latest example of the ‘Gucci bangs’ look, also showing that softer bangs are having a resurgence,” Taurua continues. “Styles like these can instantly change an overall look without requiring a dramatic chop. Not to mention, the slightly ‘undone’ finish makes it easy to wear day-to-day.”
While Johnson is a present-day example, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing the term Gucci bangs. The name is credited to celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who created the look for Demi Moore’s role in Gucci’s fall 2025 short film The Tiger. Directed by Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn, the film introduced creative director Demna’s era at the house, and Moore, who plays Barbara Gucci, was given long, piecey, face-framing bangs to help bring the character to life. Giannetos has said Demna came up with the idea, and the name stuck.

Here’s what to request at the salon: “Ask for a full but softly textured fringe with longer strands around the sides to achieve a seamless transition into the rest of your hair,” Taurua says. “Make sure they don’t over-thin the fringe, as the goal is to keep the fullest appearance.” Whether you’re easing into bangs for the first time or revisiting an old favorite, Gucci bangs are about as low-commitment as a fringe gets.
