The 1-Step Trick to Your Sleekest, Frizz-Free Hair Ever

If you're a fan of hairspray, you've probably been using it the good, old fashion way: Spraying it into your hair after styling. However, most of the time that leads to crunchy ends or stiff-looking styles, but thankfully, there's an easy solution for that. According to hairstyling genius, Odile Gilbert (who we spoke to backstage at the Naeem Khan fashion show with TRESemmé), there's a better hairspray technique for achieving a sleek, frizz-free look.

"Spritz, blow dry, then brush," explains Gilbert backstage, demonstrating how she creates a smooth base for styling. The look—which included a low-lying braided updo—required a sleek side-part with the top portion of hair smoothed down without any loose flyaways. To create the glossy look, Gilbert first prepped the hair with a pre-styling smoothing spray, then began braiding. Once the braid was wrapped around the head and almost complete, she secured the braid and took the remaining front section of the hair and spritzed it with TRESemmé TRES Two Hair Spray ($6). Then Gilbert blasted it with a blow dryer on high heat for about five seconds before smoothing the strands down with a brush.

According to Gilbert, this "spritz, blow dry, brush" technique gives the hair shine and locks down flyaways without leaving a tough residue, allowing it to appear frizz-free yet still malleable enough to style afterwards. So, the next time you try to pull your hair into a sleek ponytail or flyaway-free topknot, give Gilbert's 3-step, runway approved trick a try before you style—you'll be happy you did.
