For a while, it felt like we’d come a long way when it comes to body acceptance and positivity, but the recent surge in popularity for GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic has sparked a resurgence in the desire for all things thin. While weight-loss drugs can reap massive, life-changing health benefits for those struggling with obesity, the use of Ozempic in Hollywood has generally become more recreational and superficial, and actress Bella Thorne has something to say about it.
Bella Thorne Addresses Ozempic Use in Hollywood
In recent years, it feels like every celebrity is on Ozempic, even if they had no real reason to lose weight, which has seriously impacted the way we look at and feel about our own bodies, not just as fans, but for fellow celebrities too. In a candid Instagram story this weekend, Bella Thorne got real about how Ozempic use in Hollywood has impacted her own self image. Rocking a blue patterned bikini and showing off her incredible physique, Thorne admitted “I haven’t been feeling good about my body in a while, especially with everybody on Ozempic.”
The actress and director didn’t stop there, confronting the weight-loss drug craze for setting “all these crazy beauty standards that nobody can keep up with unless they’re on Ozempic.” Thorne went on to detail her workout routine which consists of swimming daily, walking everywhere and sweating out “everything possible,” all of which have helped her to regain confidence in her body. She concluded the much-needed video by stating, “Finally feeling good. So Ozempic, you can f*** off.”
That’s the energy I’ll be channeling for the rest of the summer. Thanks, Bella!
