Every fall brings its share of moody manicures, but the fall nail color of 2026 is brown, and it’s showing up in far more than one flavor. Several times this season, I’ve found myself heading into the salon seeking a brown manicure, but when I pore over the 50 shades of brown in the salon’s color book, I’m overwhelmed.
It seems there’s no single dominant shade of brown this season, which makes sense, as Donna Charloff, director of service operations at MiniLuxe, says she’s noticing people increasingly putting their own spin on popular trends this fall. There’s glossy espresso, cherry cola that sits halfway between brown and red, milky browns and about a dozen others in between.
Ahead, nine brown manicures to bring to your next appointment, from deep chocolate to soft, milky truffle, plus the polishes to recreate each one at home.

Espresso
Nail artist Mateja Novakovic says she’s a big fan of deep, rich espresso brown, and it seems plenty of other people are as well. This might be the most common shade I’ve seen on social media this season. Nail artist Caitlin Duffy loves “anything with that gorgeous depth and warmth to it, especially when it has a glossy finish!”
Celebrity nail artist Gina Eppolito specifically calls out espresso suede. “Sultry and deep, this hue commands attention with quiet confidence. Rich, refined, and undeniably chic, it brings an effortless sense of luxury.”

Cherrywood
“This season, I’m seeing so many brown-toned burgundies and reds. I think we are between the two classics: brown and red,” says Novakovic. Charloff agrees that they’re perfect “for those who prefer something darker and moodier.” “Rich, warm, and effortlessly sophisticated—the perfect hybrid, they embody both comfort and class,” she adds.

Mocha Glaze
“Combine a rich mocha brown with white chrome to create an added depth and a glazed finish,” suggests Charloff. “I love how it builds on the glazed donut nail trend we’ve seen over the past few seasons, but gives it a warmer, richer feel that’s perfect for fall.”

Truffle Brown
Duffy says warm, truffle tones are popular this season. “Truffle is a creamy medium brown with a soft taupe undertone. It feels warm and cozy, but still very neutral and easy to wear for fall,” explains nail artist Viktoriia Voloshyna.

Smoky Bronzed Brown
Charloff says a sophisticated smoky brown with warm bronze undertones has found a spot in her rotation this fall. The smokiness “offers a subtle nod to the popular chrome and cat-eye trends, making it a beautiful alternative for those who prefer traditional polish over gel,” she adds.

Browns With Complementary Colors
For a standout brown manicure, try adding another color to the mix. Novakovic says she “absolutely love[s] adding details in complementary colors to brown manicures: pinks, butter yellows and baby blues.”

Brown Shimmer
For a festive look, opt for a brown polish with a hint of shimmer. Duffy recommends a deep, decadent brown with delicate golden shimmer running through it, so it catches the light and adds just the right amount of warmth and sparkle.
