Some scents don’t need an introduction. Fresh laundry. Sunscreen at the beach. Cinnabon at the mall. And, for generations of us, the soft, clean smell of a Dove Beauty Bar ($2) at the bathroom sink.
For nearly 70 years, the Dove Original Beauty Bar has been a fixture in beauty routines, and fans have spent years asking the brand, in comments, posts and DMs, to bottle its signature scent. Now Dove has done exactly that. Meet Dove Original Fragrance, which the brand calls “the only fragrance you know before you even smell it.”
Developed with renowned fragrance developer Ann Gottlieb, the scent captures the unmistakable smell of the Original Beauty Bar in a soft, clean and comforting fragrance designed for everyday wear. Think less statement perfume, more that just-showered feeling you can take with you.
The packaging is a nostalgia hit, too. The glass bottle is shaped like the classic Dove Beauty Bar and topped with a sculptural gold Dove bird cap. That makes it the rare fragrance bottle that looks as good on a vanity as the bar does on the sink.
Even the price is a throwback. Dove Original Fragrance costs $20 a nod to 1957, the year the Dove Beauty Bar was born.
There’s a catch, though: you won’t find it on store shelves. With no traditional retail launch planned, Dove Original Fragrance is available only through a one-time, limited-quantity online drop on October 27. A waitlist opened for sign-ups at 8 a.m. ET today, October 22, so if you’ve ever wished you could smell like a freshly unwrapped bar of Dove, sign up now.
