Lady Gaga just served up a hair transformation that we can’t stop thinking about. The 38-year-old singer took to Instagram—twice—to debut her new jet-black strands, leaving her nearly 57 million followers in awe. This bold switch-up is a far cry from the iconic white blonde we’ve come to know and love, but if anyone can pull off such a dramatic change, it’s Gaga.

In the first post, she’s seated at the piano, her glossy black hair styled straight with a center part and sharp, angled pieces framing her face. What’s especially striking is that she kept her eyebrows bleach blonde, which gives a little extra contrast to her new hair color. She didn’t address the hair color change in either Instagram caption, so it’s unclear whether it’s a true dye job or a wig, but either way, fans are excited about the change, as evidenced by the comments flooding her posts.

Lady Gaga’s New Hair Color

Her very own makeup brand, Haus Labs, jumped into the comments section with, “THE HAIRRR 😍❤️‍🔥,” and plenty more fans followed suit. “Hot girls have no brows and black hair,” one person wrote. Another added, “In love with the black hair,” and a third chimed in, “black hair bleached brows era finally.”

If Gaga’s new dark hair is any indication of upcoming hair color trends, we’re headed for a dark hair autumn. But that’s not exactly news to us. While not as dark as the singer’s new look, rich chocolate hair is already one of the most anticipated colors for the next season. “Rich chocolate brown is a deep shade of brown that has a glossy and vibrant appearance,” Min Kim, celebrity colorist and balayage specialist, previously told NewBeauty. She added that rich chocolate brown includes various warm undertones that add depth and dimension to the color. “This shade is all about making the hair look healthy and full of life,” she says.

For those looking for a less dramatic transformation, another trending option is ash brown. Tiffanie Richards, a master colorist at Louise O’Connor Salon in New York, shared with NewBeauty that it’s an excellent choice for “those with pale skin and lighter eyes.” She explains, “It will help the eyes pop against the pale undertones in the skin.” That said, Richards assures that ash brown works for many skin tones, with examples from celebrities like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jamie Chung.

Whether you’re ready to dive into Gaga’s jet-black era or prefer a softer touch with rich chocolate or ash brown, one thing’s for sure: This fall’s hair color trends are all about making a statement.
