As reported on by the Chicago Tribune and published in the April Annals of Internal Medicine, a new study led by a team at Garibaldi Hospital in Catania, found that Botox might have some success in treating “burning mouth syndrome,” a “chronic condition characterized by burning pain in the tongue, and sometimes the lips or roof of the mouth.”
The study was small and only involved four patients, but all patients experienced a disappearance of pain within 48 hours of the injection with no reported side effects, according to the team.
