A breakthrough in skin tightening since its arrival on the scene, Sofwave is more than just an excellent face treatment. The expert-approved ultrasound therapy is a full-body pick-me-up and the perfect companion to other aesthetic treatments. We spoke with Atlanta dermatologist Elise Barnett, MD to explore exactly what Sofwave has to offer as well as her secret to maintaining your results.
Sofwave Is the Latest and Greatest
Sofwave may be the new kid on the block in terms of aesthetic treatments for nonsurgical tightening, but saying it is making waves is putting it lightly.
“With the addition of Sofwave, the newest ultrasound-based technology for lifting and tightening the skin, we at Atlanta Skin Wellness Center are able to provide our patients a comprehensive approach to most, if not all, of their skin concerns,” Dr. Barnett explains.
According to Dr. Barnett, we’re still learning about all the ways Sofwave can be useful in aesthetics.
“With Sofwave’s ever-growing list of indications, this versatile, non-invasive technology has proven to be effective to lift not only problem areas on the face (for example, the brow or jowls),” Dr. Barnett says. “But also, to target laxity in the neck, chest, arms and knees. There are also new indications for the treatment of cellulite and acne scarring in patients of all skin types.”
Additionally, SofwaveTM has been around for over a year now, meaning that there’s been time for practitioners like Dr. Barnett to really see it work.
“At Atlanta Skin Wellness Center, our patients trust that we don’t just jump on the latest bandwagon treatment,” Dr. Barnett explains. “I personally performed a full year of research, discussing this device with colleagues and fully vetting it before offering Sofwave to my patients. We are proud to be the first dermatology practice in Georgia to offer Sofwave!”
Building a Treatment Plan for You
Of course, not every treatment is perfect for every patient.
When you’re trying to understand what kind might be right for you, having a board-certified dermatologist in your corner can make a huge difference.
“When consulting with a patient, I first assess the patient for any medical concerns such as rosacea, acne or any areas concerning for skin cancer,” Dr. Barnett explains. “I want to know what bothers the patient about his or her skin. With this information, combined with my assessment, we formulate a tailored plan unique to each individual.”
The idea is to give your skin what it needs from top to bottom.
“These plans often include a simple, targeted, at-home skin-care routine including sunscreen, any prescription treatments as necessary,” Dr. Barnett says. “As well as treatments to address skin texture, neuromodulators to relax muscles causing wrinkles, fillers to restore volume to the face, lasers to erase sun damage and of course, treatments to lift and tighten the skin.”
And it’s very likely that you’ll find Sofwave among those treatments.
“One of the wonderful things about Sofwave is it is fully customizable,” Dr. Barnett explains. “There are settings available for younger patients without much skin laxity for prejuvenative treatment, to settings for more severe wrinkling and laxity and everything in-between.”
