Tattoos are often meant to showcase a person’s uniqueness, with no two ever being truly the same. A recent report from Inkbox found that 76 percent of people feel the best reason to get inked is self-expression.

Although tattoos strive to be unique, of course, there are commonalities. We’ve seen our fair share of wave tattoos, initials of partners (or exes) and favorite flowers tattooed into people’s skin. The report found that the most popular source of inspiration is symbols—hello, tattoo hearts. However, even more universal than the designs of tattoos is the placement.

Yes, tattoos can be anywhere, but we most often see them in the same few spots. While the design is the most common reason for regret, placement is the runner-up, so choose wisely next time you’re in the chair.

The report found the most common spot for a tattoo is the arm with 63 percent landing there. The runner-up likely won’t surprise you—the wrist sees 37 percent of tattoo placements. The upper back and chest are the third and fourth, respectively, most common areas for tattoos.
