The moment you get a tattoo is a rush. The weeks following, where you’re constantly showing it off, can be just as thrilling. However, there comes a time that some people are no longer happy with their decision, while others continue to adore their ink. According to a new report from Advanced Dermatology, one in four Americans admit they regret at least one tattoo, and some designs inspire remorse more often than others.

The report found that the most commonly regretted ink is a lettering or script tattoo, with 19 percent regretting the decision. The runner-ups include symbols, names, animal designs and tribal tattoos. Not to mention one in 10 has gotten a tattoo for a significant other only to later break up. The regret often seems to set in later. More than half of the regretters felt the remorse hit two years after getting the design.

These days, it’s not as disastrous to regret a tattoo since there are tattoo removal options dermatologists offer. The data shows that 59 percent of people plan to get at least one tattoo removed in the future.
