Married since 1993, Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley have a solid Hollywood relationship. As of today, they also have a fragrance that plays off their strong partnership.
Meet Dave, the new Eau de Parfum from Henry Rose, the Pfeiffer-founded brand that prides itself on creating 100-percent transparent fine fragrances. The new SKU in the mix is an homage to renowned storyteller, writer and producer Kelley—Pfeiffer’s husband—known for iconic series like Big Little Lies, Doogie Howser, M.D. and Ally McBeal, to name a few.
Wrapped in the delicate floral notes of neroli and a decadent gourmand of cocoa shell and tonka bean, Dave is “a richly seductive layered vanilla that’s anything but vanilla.“
“Dave is named after my husband, David,” shares Pfeiffer. “He’s been my greatest supporter from day one. He also happens to love when I wear vanilla. When we started crafting Dave, I knew I wanted to make a vanilla that defied the ‘ordinary’ stereotypes—something with depth and duality, just like David. It’s comforting, yet bold. Sensitive, yet strong. Sophisticated, yet free-spirited. David is a storyteller. And like any great story, Dave is a vanilla with some unexpected twists.”
And twists it has. While vanilla almost always conjures up “sweet,” this is best described as “weightless and light” with unexpected boldness.
“While crafting Dave, my intention was to immerse the senses with some as familiar as vanilla, but done in a way that they have never encountered before,” explains Pascal Gaurin, vice president and senior perfumer at IFF. “Decadent yet playful, fresh yet warm, sophisticated yet uncomplicated, Dave captures nuances of natural vanilla bean that are wrapped in the floral petals of neroli and decadent gourmand notes cocoa shell and tonka bean.”
