While we all know that Nicole Kidman is our universal pop culture mother, she's in herbabygirl era as of late thanks to her starring role in the film of the same title. At tonight's Golden Globes, the Babygirl star stepped out in a backless metallic dress and a sky-high ponytail that screams 70s realness, and we have the step-by-step tutorial on just how to create it yourself.

How to Create Nicole Kidman's Golden Globes Pony

“We drew inspiration from the iconic styles of the 1960s and 1970s, with a nod to the Studio 54 era," hairstylist Adir Abergel shared. "Nicole’s dress features a stunning open back so we wanted to create a style that would not only highlight that detail but also accentuate Nicole’s amazing hair.”

To create such an eye-catching style, Abergel prepped the actress's hair with Virtue's new Scalp Remedy Shampoo ($44), Scalp Remedy Conditioner ($42), Volumizing Primer ($40) and Damage Reverse Serum ($60), applying from her roots to ends to nourish the hair before slicking it up. To get Kidman's pony to its heavenly height, Abergel began by using his Denman Brush and Kristin Ess Soft Volume Blow Dry Brush ($85) to smooth the actress' natural curls before pulling all of her hair into a tight, high ponytail.

Adir then weaved in pieces of BELLAMI Hair 18" Silk Seam Clip-In Hair Extensions ($190) in the shade Golden Hour to the crown and back of her head to add density and fullness. He then used his 2-inch Kristin Ess Titanium Curling Iron ($50) to create a slight bend and flip in that classic '70s fashion. To finish it off, Abergel combed the top of the ponytail and applied Virtue's Healing Oil ($45) for ultimate red carpet-ready shine.
