Jennifer Connelly’s Biggest Beauty Secrets

By ·
JC Main

She got bit by the acting bug at 14 and since then Jennifer Connelly has starred in such notable films as Requiem for a Dream, A Beautiful Mind and Blood Diamond, among others. Along with her highly successful acting career, Jennifer has also been affiliated with the Shiseido brand since she was teenager when she signed on to promote the line in Japan. Today, the award-winning actress, wife, mother of two and natural beauty embraces a holistic approach when it comes to her health, skin and body—and it shows.

On Keeping My Skin Healthy

“I’m very much aligned with the philosophy of taking a holistic approach to health, well being and beauty. I try to do things that complement each other and work from the inside out. I eat well, exercise regularly and live my life in a pretty balanced and healthy way. Taking care of your skin is definitely part of the approach.”

My Beauty Must-Haves

“I use Shiseido Future Solution LX Daytime Protective Cream and the Total Regenerating Cream every day and night. I’ve been using them for a while and have noticed a change in the quality of my skin—it’s much more luminous and the texture is so smooth and nice. Sometimes I’ll use the Future Solution LXEye and Lip Contour Regenerating Cream, especially if I’m somewhere that’s really dry like Canada. If I’m working and wearing makeup I’ll put the new Future Solution LX Emulsion on under my makeup. In terms of makeup, I like Clé de Peau Beauté’s Concealer—it’s really nice—Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick in Marina topped with some lip balm and a little bit of mascara. I don’t necessarily wear fragrance, but I love the scent of a Cire Trudon Abd El Kader candle burning. And for my hair, I absolutely love Serge Normant’s Meta Silk Shampoo.”

Staying in Shape

“I’ve been a vegan for a pretty long time but I do eat fish on occasion depending on where I am and what’s available. I like to run a few times a week and do yoga, which I’ve been doing for many years. My thought is that even if you only have a few minutes to get a run (or your workout) in, it helps to get your energy going and the blood flowing.”

Effortless Hair

“When it comes to my hair I really don’t do that much to it. Since cutting it short (I had it cut and styled into a long bob for a role) I’ve started using different products, like Fekkai Beach Waves, Bumble and bumble Bb. Texture Hair (Un)Dressing Creme and shampoo and conditioner from René Furterer. Other than that I am styling it differently now but that’s about it. I try not to do too many processes on it and give it a rest. I don’t color my hair—I had to go blond once for a role. But when I feel like it needs a little boost I’ll go to Marie Robinson in New York and she’ll put a gloss on it. I do notice that my hair and nails are at their best and much stronger when I take Vega One and Green Vibrance supplements.”

The Best Beauty Advice I’ve Learned

“Judy Chin, a makeup artist that I’ve worked with on films for years taught me that when I am trying to cover up a blemish with concealer, I should use different shades of makeup instead of covering the whole thing with just one tone. And, my children’s babysitter introduced me to Sensuous Beauty Honey Macadamia Hydrating Mask, which I still use.”

My Biggest Beauty Indulgence

“Skin care for sure. I don’t do facials all that often but I think that good skin is an investment. I love that Shiseido gives complimentary facial massages to their customers.”

Bold, Beautiful Brows

“I don’t get my brows professionally done. I kind of just wrangle out the stray ones myself without doing too much. The only time that I ever had them trimmed was when I was filming a Beautiful Mind.”
