Happy Halloween! With two weekends to celebrate, it feels like the festivities have been in full swing for days—and it’s not over yet! We’re expecting another wave of creative costumes and makeup looks to flood our feeds from our favorite celebrities. Ahead of the official holiday, Christina Aguilera blessed us with a nostalgic 2000s-inspired look that’s, without a doubt, become our favorite of the Halloween Eve looks. Check it out here.
While Aguilera hasn’t clarified her costume inspiration, it’s easy to imagine she’s channeling an early aughts version of herself, complete with “gilded blood tears.” Celebrity makeup artist and Melt Cosmetics founder Lora Arellano brought the chillingly glamorous details to life, sharing snaps on Instagram grid that give fans a look at Aguilera’s hauntingly beautiful deep red, smoky metallic eyeshadow, blood-red tear streaks cascading from each eye and glossy lips in a perfectly matched shade of red.
We’ve also tracked down the creative mastermind behind Aguilera’s hair: creative hairstylist Yuichi Ishida. At the time of writing, he, too hasn’t revealed any context behind her center-parted, voluminous and textured blonde curls, but he did share glamour shots of his client to his Instagram grid, captioning it. “XXX THE QUEEN.” Fans in the comments might have been too entranced by her curls to question the look’s inspiration, but they certainly seemed thrilled with her nod to early-aughts glam.
