A Lightweight Body Oil With Heavy Duty Skin Benefits
By Liz Ritter, Executive Editor |
Natural brand Lavanila is all about the coveted vanilla bean. It’s the superstar ingredient in its perfumes, its deodorants and even its sunscreens—and now, the company is playing up the potent nourishing power of Madagascar vanilla bean oil with its latest launch, the Vanilla Bean Cream Body Oil ($39).
Founder Danielle Raynor describes it as “feeling silky yet soaking right in,” which seems like an oxymoron until you try it and realize she has a totally spot-on statement. The consistency is almost like a really sheer serum (and you only need two drops)—creamy, rich and hydrating, yet not at all greasy or oily. The smell is amazing (it has a warm, almost relaxing vanilla fragrance, not a supersweet one), and the other ingredients in it—argan and coconut oils—make for the most luxurious formula.

But, what makes it most interesting, besides the fact that it works so well? The brand says its vanilla isn't just for the scent value, as it has more than 60 percent active ingredients, polyphenols and polyketones, all of which help condition, protect and repair skin, while being completely gentle on sensitive skin types.
