5 Beauty Tips for Beach Brides
By Leah Goldblatt |
You’ve planned your dream wedding, overlooking the ocean, toes in the sand and surrounded by loved ones. Don’t let your perfect day get derailed by forgetting to take into consideration all of the challenges that getting married outdoors can present. We checked in with Stacey Weinstein, celebrity hairstylist and owner of Once Upon a Bride in New York, for the best beauty tips for beach brides.
The Perfect Style
You've picked the dress and the shoes, but now you need to decide on the hair. If your style is more relaxed and natural, Weinstein recommends long, wavy bohemian hair accented with a hair chain. Prefer a little more structure or an updo? “Try a fishtail braid or a loose knot, which gives a softer look and is perfect for outdoor weddings," she says. "Add a fresh flower to finish the look.”
While the backdrop is breathtaking, the wind can become a major issue when it comes to your hair. Instead of constantly battling to keep it out of your face, Weinstein advises to keep the hair around your face pulled back during the ceremony. "You can always have it taken down later," she adds.
Stop the Frizz
While the weather may be perfect on your big day, the humidity in the air may leave your hair looking less than ideal. “Treat your hair in advance with a smoothing system to take away any frizz from the start,” says Weinstein. Finish with an anti-humidity hairspray to lock in your style and keep flyaways under control.
Skip the Suncreen?
You will probably be spending plenty of time out in the sun, so wearing sunscreen is a must for your body, but Weinstein says cautions the type you should be using for your face. “Some physical sunscreens will peek through your makeup in photos and can make your face look white and washed out," she adds. "Instead, choose a moisturizer and foundation that already contain SPF for both sun protection and flawless photos.”
From waterproof to sweatproof and glossy to matte, when it comes to picking your makeup there is a lot more to consider than just color. “When choosing your foundation, opt for airbrushing or a traditional version with silicone, which holds up better in the summer heat," says Weinstein. "Mascara should always be waterproof, and when it comes to the lips, I prefer lip stains because they are long-lasting and won’t wear off.”
