Alicia Silverstone’S New Skin-Care Line
By Anna K. Fryxell |
“As if!?” was the first "Clueless" thought that came to mind when I heard that Alicia Silverstone was teaming up with Juice Beauty for an organic skin-care line. Not because I don't think she know's much about beauty, but because I can't figure out how the new mom has time to pursue an endeavor like this. Here's what it's about:
The Alicia Silverstone Collection for Juice Beauty is a completely organic line that consists of everyday essentials from cleanser to lip color. Not only is the line vegan, but its packaging is also gorgeous. It's a dusty pink color with floral designs and is made from recycled bottles and paper, and printed with soy ink. But enough of how good the line looks and sounds; you're probably wondering if it actually works.
Since the basis for good makeup is good skin, let's start with the Juice Beauty Simply Pure Chamomile Cleanser ($22). It's a gel that lathers into a light foam and doesn't leave your skin feeling stripped or tight. Instead, it feels clean and hydrated. The best part is, it smells amazing! I would describe the scent as if you've just washed your face in a mountain stream flowing through a flowery meadow. Or, as Alicia puts it, “These products not only feel clean and wonderful, they smell delicious-like aromatherapy for the soul.”
The Juice Beauty Simply Nourishing Moisturizer ($36) also smells lovely and leaves your skin feeling velvety and hydrated. The moisturizer is infused with organic shea and cocoa butter for hydration, as well as champagne grape antioxidants for a silky finish.
Now to the makeup. The first thing I tried was the Juice Beauty Purely Kissable Lip Color ($16). It's Alicia's signature color, a very natural-looking pink, created with a blend of passion fruit, acai and goji berries. My problem with many lipsticks is that they leave my lips dry and flaky, but it's the opposite with this one because it actually is very hydrating.
I used the Juice Beauty Irresistible Glow Facial Highlighter ($22) instead of my regular blush, and I can say I'm a huge fan. It gave me a very natural flush again thanks to a mixture of berries. I have pale skin with pink undertones and it was a good match for me, but I'd like to see how it looks on different skin tones since it's supposed to be a universal color.
Last, the Juice Beauty Simply Flawless Pressed Powder ($24) is a translucent powder that worked really well with my tinted moisturizer. I would suggest using a sponge applicator instead of a brush to apply it though. When I used my brush, I ended up with a lot more powder than I bargained for and a bit of a mess.
Now before you wonder, "Is this a Juice Beauty ad or what?" (it's not, trust me). Know that I don't get overly excited by every new beauty line I come across. But I'm obsessed with this one. All of the products perform well, and it's great to know that I'm not putting harmful ingredients on my skin because they're all organic. You can buy the line exclusively at ULTA Beauty stores nationwide or on Juice Beauty's website. I can't wait to see what future collaborations Juice Beauty and Alicia come up with next!
