16 Products the Founder of SHEN Beauty Can’t Live Without

This article first ran in the Fall-Winter 2018 issue of NewBeauty, available on newsstands until January 15, 2019.

An expert in finding everyone's next beauty obsession, founder of SHEN Beauty and Head of Beauty and Wellness for Free People Jessica Richards knows a thing or two about what's chic and effective. Here, the products and discoveries her skin can't be without.

Vanity VIP
ARCH Sole Savour Relief Crème ($70) is technically a foot cream, but it takes the top spot in Richards’ collection. “I put it all over my body after I take a bath. It feels super luxe and contains more CBD than most formulas, so sleeping covered in it helps ease my body pains.”

Pretty Simple
As a big believer in skin care acting as makeup, Richard’s two-minute routine is simple, but packs a punch. Two products constantly on rotation: Eyeko Rock Out Mascara ($26) and Lilah B. Matte Foundation ($54). “I’ll swipe on Kosas Electric lipstick ($28) if I’m going out—I love a bold lip at night.”

Early Morning Routine
According to Richards, “A.M. skin equals speed.” Her routine is less than five minutes, but her rule is that every single step needs to be effective. “I use micellar water instead of face wash—I love the one from Joelle Ciocco. Then I use a Barbara Sturm serum, mostly the Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($300) then Super Anti-Aging ($350), then her personalized blood cream. Then it’s time for Elta MD UVClear SPF 46 ($33). In the colder months, I’ll add May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon ($180) to add some extra moisture. Then I’m out the door.”

P.M. Wind-Down
As for her evening skin routine, she goes all out. “January Labs toner ($28) has a bit of witch hazel in it so it gets the city grime off. Then I use Barbara Sturm Anti-Pollution Drops ($145) to ease out of the city grime. Afterwards, I use an oil—either a new brand that I’m trying or Vintner's Daughter ($185)—and the new SHEN facial tool to massage my lymphatic system and help force the product into the skin.”

Favorite Discovery
Eight Day Skin Care. “I’m obsessed. Their eye cream ($225) uses stem cell proteins and I have seen crazy results in one month.  Then, without fail, it’s 37 Actives Neck Cream ($225). Most people forget about the décolleté, but Dr. Macrene has perfected this product.”
