Blepharoplasties
According to New York facial plastic surgeon Dillip D. Madnani, MD and Wichita, KS plastic surgeon Amy Sprole MD, blepharoplasties have become immensely more popular amongst male patients as of late. Blepharoplasties—also known as eyelifts—are an increasingly common plastic surgery procedure for rejuvenating the eye area and creating a more youthful, wide-awake look. Dr. Madnani recalls performing what he calls the “Brad Pitt special” on a recent patient who underwent a necklift. “The Brad Pitt special refers to a little brow lift and the cleanup of the upper eyelids in addition to necklift treatments, and he’s super happy with the results,” Dr. Madnani says. “Most recently, I’ve had a bunch of male patients come in with lower eyelid bags that they want [to] improve, and they are all looking less tired and are very happy with outcomes.”
Necklifts and Facelifts
Also on the plastic surgery side of things, Dr. Madnani and Dr. Sprole call out necklifts and facelifts as aesthetic procedures gaining traction amongst men. One of the main reasons men are opting to undergo more invasive plastic surgery treatments as of late is due to the advanced, natural-looking, minimal downtime options available today. For example, Dr. Madnani treated a patient with concerns about his “turkey neck,” and reported that “He is back to his board meetings after a few weeks, and no one noticed or asked him any questions, especially on Zoom. No one has said anything, and even at the meetings in person, it’s been six weeks now, and he’s very happy and feels like he looks better.”
Botox and Injectables
For New York dermatologist Andrew Peredo, MD, facial treatments like Botox and other neurotoxins, as well as filler treatments, have been on the rise amongst male patients. “Fillers and bio stimulator injections have increased amongst our male patients, whether it’s due to losing volume with age or due to the increased popularity of GLPs,” he says. “Most men are noticing they don’t want to be gaunt-looking.”
Hair Transplants/PRP
Unsurprisingly, hair-related treatments like hair transplants, exosome therapies and PRP therapies are also steadily gaining steam amongst men. “We are performing a lot of PRP and exosomes to the scalp as well as hair transplantation,” Dr. Peredo says of his patients.
Laser Resurfacing
As men get more comfortable with cosmetic treatments, laser treatments like laser resurfacing are also on the rise. “On the non-surgical side, it’s mostly laser treatments or skin resurfacing with Botox and fillers,” Dr. Madnani says. Dr. Peredo agrees, explaining, “We have seen an increased interest in regenerative medicine lately, and we are doing more treatments for hair loss in men as well as laser treatments.”
