Not every spa deserves its own boarding pass. Meraki Wellness does. I cried when I left a few weeks ago—it left that sort of impression on me. Tucked along Grand Cayman's iconic Seven Mile Beach and attached to The Watermark's expansive luxury condo tower, the newly opened, 16,000-square-foot wellness destination isn't simply another luxe spa with exquisite treatment suites and an impressive menu. It's a thoughtfully orchestrated wellness experience where every detail—from the sequence of your hydrotherapy journey to the purity of the air you're breathing—has been designed with one goal in mind: making you feel completely transformed before you ever lie down on the massage table.
The name itself tells you everything you need to know. Meraki is a Greek word that means everything I do, I do it with love and passion—I leave a piece of my soul in my work. It's not just the spa's name; it's the philosophy that husband-and-wife founders Peter and Shula Clarke have infused into every square inch of the property. After decades spent creating some of the world's most celebrated wellness destinations, they know exactly what they're doing.
The result is one of the most exciting new luxury wellness openings in the Caribbean, and one that feels poised to become an international destination.
More Than a Spa—A Wellness and Longevity Journey
What immediately separates Meraki from a traditional resort spa is that it's a purpose-built wellness destination, not an amenity offered by a hotel. Every experience flows intentionally into the next, encouraging guests to slow down—which I needed and gave into right away.
There are five beautifully designed relaxation lounges, each with its own vibe for unwinding before and after treatments. Whether you're curled up with herbal tea after a massage, lounging beside the peaceful mineral pool or just enjoying a few moments of silence (as a busy mom, I embraced this wholeheartedly), the spaces feel every bit as luxurious as the treatments themselves.

However, Meraki also recognizes that today's luxury traveler isn't just chasing relaxation; they're increasingly interested in understanding their health. That's where the spa's Longevity & Wellness Screening comes in. For locals who visit regularly, this comprehensive scan is built into their membership, but for guests visiting on vacation, it’s considered its own “treatment.”
Using advanced, noninvasive biometric technology, guests receive an assessment of more than 30 wellness markers—including metabolic health, cardiovascular function, stress, recovery and overall well-being—to help personalize future wellness recommendations. I was fortunate to have the screening done at the beginning of my three-day visit with the fabulous Giota, who runs the program. My Wellness Index “score” left room for improvement (stress being my main culprit), and I left with actionable changes I could make in my daily routine.

The 7-Step Hydrotherapy Circuit
If there's one experience you simply can't miss, it's the Hydrotherapy Odyssey. Unlike the self-guided thermal circuits found at many spas, Meraki's version feels immersive and intentional. I could have spent hours in there. The 45-minute guided journey moves you through seven distinct thermal environments, including an aromatic steam room, a cold plunge, experiential showers, a panoramic sauna and a snow room. Where else can you find snow—real snow—in the Caribbean?

I was hesitant to do my first cold plunge, but stayed in for 90 seconds, which I consider a win. I was also worried I’d be freezing in the snow room (you go in wet after the rain showers), but I ended up loving my time in there so much, I didn’t feel cold at all. I felt surprisingly calm and at peace—lost in my thoughts. The effects of the contrast therapy were immediate; I felt a rush of circulation and a calmer nervous system, and left invigorated and inspired.
Walk out of the Hydrotherapy Circuit and you're in the central hub of the spa: the warm mineral pool, enriched with Himalayan salt and full of jets and bubbles. The architecture in this space—the custom-made ceiling especially—is unlike any other spa I've visited.

A Hammam You'll Talk About Long After You Leave
Meraki's hammam sanctuary is another standout. Inspired by centuries-old bathing rituals and Moroccan and Turkish hammams, this more-polished version of the ancient treatment combines steam, exfoliation, mineral-rich mud and layers of impossibly soft foam into a one-of-a-kind experience you have to feel to understand. For some, being bathed by a total stranger (they even wash your hair) may be intimidating. For me, it was deeply restorative in a powerful, spiritual way—the kind that left me sitting in silent awe afterward—and my most memorable spa experience on the property.

Beauty, Fitness and Everything In Between
Face and body experiences in each of the 10 treatment suites incorporate products from Natura Bissé and Seed to Skin—you can even get EMFACE and LYMA Laser treatments. But Meraki doesn’t stop at massages and facials. Something Peter and Shula have never included in one of their spa properties—until now—is a dedicated private event space that allows groups to gather for everything from wellness retreats to celebrations in an environment that feels worlds away from a traditional hotel meeting room.
The beautiful Butterfly Room and Blow Dry Lounge offer manis, pedis and hairstyling in an intimate, elegant setting. For men, The Gentleman's Barber, created in partnership with the legendary British grooming house Truefitt & Hill (the groomers behind every King of England since 1805), pays homage to traditional barbershops, but with a modern touch. There’s also a state-of-the-art Fitness Lounge outfitted with premium Technogym equipment, an adjoining yoga studio and world-class personal trainers.
Build in time for breakfast or lunch at Meraki’s Plant & Tonic Wellness Café, which is more than a grab-and-go—it's an extension of the property's holistic philosophy, serving fresh, plant-forward, flexitarian dishes and fresh-pressed juices with a rotating menu.

Every Detail Feels Considered, Even the Staff
Perhaps what impressed me most wasn't any single treatment—it was the extraordinary level of intention behind the entire experience. Nothing feels forced or accidental. The textures, scents, lighting and acoustics have all been carefully calibrated to create an immediate sense of calm. Even the air is 99.995-percent purified (a rarity for a spa of this size), which the spa says is designed to boost focus and endurance and support functional wellness.
Every single member of the staff left an impression on me, from Giota, who conducted my Longevity Screening, to my massage therapist, Marinette, and my spa butler, Lívia—even chef Crystal in the Plant & Tonic Café. They embody Meraki in every sense of the word, and you will feel that, too, during your visit.
The Bottom Line
Luxury spas are no longer just places to book a massage—they've become destinations that shape the way we travel. Meraki Wellness embodies that evolution with its world-class hydrotherapy circuit, restorative hammam, personalized longevity consultations, beautifully designed relaxation spaces and unwavering attention to detail. Whether you're planning an entire Cayman Islands escape or simply looking for one unforgettable day of self-care while you're there, Meraki Wellness is worth building your itinerary around.
