With summer officially kicking off on June 21, spending time outdoors—at a barbecue, in the pool or at the beach—is basically mandatory. And what better way to lean into the season than with a fresh summer nail color to match?

"Every summer, I notice clients gravitating back toward brighter, fresher and more cheerful colors," says Kansas professional nail artist and founder of Slynko Beauty Bloom Studio Maryna Slynko. "Warm weather, vacations, travel and the desire to add a little more color to everyday life always influence nail color choices." According to nail pros, this July's trending shades are striking a balance between playful brights and polished neutrals, with the season putting a fresh spin on the milky finishes and soft pastels already having a major moment.

From pool-inspired blues to statement reds, these are the shades experts predict will be all the rage this July. Whether you're leaning into the patriotism of the Fourth of July or just looking for a simple summery shade, read on to find your new favorite.

The Best Nail Colors for July

Shades of Blue

One color of the month is sky blue, which evokes July’s summery energy and cloudless skies. The soft, airy shade has been popular for nails and makeup lately, with blue eye makeup making a big resurgence over the last few months.

“Sky blue perfectly captures the carefree feeling of summer and pairs beautifully with seasonal fashion," says Chicago nail artist, educator and co-founder of Artme Nails Studio Svitlana Motyl.

Slynko is also seeing a rise in aquatic-inspired shades, with pool-like blues becoming increasingly popular. “Pool blue evokes thoughts of vacations, sunny days and time spent near the water,” she says. “It feels refreshing, uplifting and effortlessly seasonal.”

Try Gucci Vernis à Ongles Nail Polish in 716 Lucy Baby Blue ($35) to get the look.

Subtle Shades of Green

Green continues its reign this summer and proves it won’t be going anywhere, but this month, it’s taking a softer approach in mint green.

Motyl predicts a resurgence of Tiffany-inspired mint shades in July. “Tiffany mint is making a strong comeback, offering a fresh yet sophisticated look that feels both playful and elegant,” she says.

Slynko is also seeing increased interest in mellow green tones this month, noting that it “reflects the growing popularity of nature-inspired tones and a more relaxed approach to beauty.” Plus, “It feels fresh, modern and brings a sense of balance and softness to the overall look,” she says.

Try Mineral Fusion Mint To Be Nail Polish ($10) to get the look.

Fiery Shades of Red

Red nails are always in style, but July brings a brighter interpretation of the classic in fiery and tomato red. “Fiery red remains a classic choice that never goes out of style,” says Motyl. “It's bold and looks great on everyone.”

Slynko says clients are also increasingly requesting tomato red, which offers a fresh update to traditional crimson or deeper shades. “It feels bold, fresh and modern,” she says. “It's easy to wear with both everyday looks and summer styles.” Plus, red is an easy way to wear Fourth of July nails that are versatile enough to keep for weeks after the holiday. To take things to the next level, pair red and blue together with trending polka dots, grids or stripes to look even more on-theme for Independence Day.

Try Manucurist Green Nail Polish in Coral Reef ($14) to get the look.

Baby Pink

Manicure minimalists and those who gravitate toward softer colors year-round, this one is for you: Experts say baby pink continues to be one of the most popular shades this month and beyond.

“Baby pink remains one of the most requested shades because of its versatility and universally flattering appearance,” says Motyl. It can complement any outfit and looks polished, no matter what the day brings. “It offers a soft touch of color that feels fresh and sophisticated without being overwhelming,” she adds.

Try OPI Nail Lacquer in Let Me Bayou a Drink ($12).

Lavender Pastel

Pastels aren't getting left behind in spring—they're staying put all summer long. Lavender continues to gain momentum as a chic alternative to more traditional neutrals, with both Motyl and Slynko expecting it to be a standout shade this month.

“Lavender is another standout color for summer, proving pastels aren't just for spring,” says Motyl. Slynko agrees, noting that soft blue and lavender shades are especially popular as they create a light, refreshing feel aligned with the season.

Try Birkenstock Nail Polish in Crocus ($12) to get the look.

Milky White

Milky white continues to be the strongest manicure trend heading into July, which is good news for the mani minimalists. Rather than a stark, bright white, the milky shade is more subtle and even easier to wear with any outfit and on any occasion.

“Milky white continues to be a favorite among clients who appreciate elegance and minimalism,” says Slynko. “It looks clean, luxurious and sophisticated while remaining versatile enough for any occasion.” As people continue to want more natural-looking results (including on their nails), this shade steps up to the plate.

Try Le Mini Macaron Nail Lacquer in Chantilly ($11) to get the look.
