Modern take on '50s glam

Makeup artist lead at Alice + Olivia's show, Michela Wariebi, was inspired by '50s makeup looks with a bit of a modern twist. She used Tarte products to achieve her vision. An artist backstage called the looks very femme, soft, timeless and ethereal. The looks largely featured a classically groomed brow, clean black liner, lots of lashes, beautiful skin and a very strong red lip. The lips tended to be heavily lined, which is where more of the modern interpretation came in.

Chrome eyes

“The focus is all in the eye with an effortless, almost abstract application of chrome and metallic shades finished with a clean lash, no mascara and a brushed-up natural eyebrow,” saysCharlie Riddle, celebrity makeup artist and Stila Cosmetics Global Beauty Director. “We used swatches of gold, platinum and cypress green on the eyes for a true metallic chrome finish, complemented by just-bitten, nude lips.”

‘90s nudes

Kim Shui’s collection was inspired by wabi-sabi and kintsugi, the Japanese art of making things more beautiful after being repaired. This was reflected with beauty looks that beckoned back to the ‘90s approach to nudes with rich but sheer brown and butterscotch shades from MAC Cosmetics by key makeup artistRomero Jennings.

Glam under-eye bags

Yes, you read that right. This takes us back to when tired eyes were trending, although it’s a bit more glam. For Phillip Lim’s show, celebrity makeup artistFara Homidi used SHEGLAM products to create “lavender halo eyes.”

Dark and moody

Tis the season for vampy looks! Makeup artistYadim Carranza used MAC Cosmetics to create a vampy look for the Area NYFW show. Pale skin and sculpted cheeks make the bold lip and eye makeup jump out that much more. We saw a similar theme at Wiederhoeft with MAC Cosmetics, so we suspect this will be a prominent trend this fall.
