It’s official: Quarantine has brought out the insecurities we never knew we had—being stuck at home means pantry visits on the hour and coming up with any and all excuses not to workout. But what if there were nonsurgical contouring treatments that could rewind the extra pounds accumulated over the past few months with just a few trips to your aesthetic provider? If this is your dream, you’ve come to the right place.
InMode, a leading global provider of innovative medical technologies that focuses on life-changing results, has developed two new treatments—one for the face (Evoke) and one for the body (Evolve)—that contour and tone the areas where we need a little bit of help. Plus, they’re perfect for social distancing: “They are both set up and administered by the aesthetic provider but they don’t require much attention—once the device is set up on your face or body, the provider can leave the room and let the treatments deliver their results, says Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Sheila Nazarian, MD.
“Evoke is a radiofrequency device that uses electrical stimulation to lift and tone the lower face and neck,” says New York facial plastic surgeon Jennifer Levine, MD. “It also removes submental fat without any downtime or pain, so it’s completely non-invasive,” she says. If a patient wants some tightening along their jawline, for example, Evoke can strategically be placed there, showing how customizable the device really is.
So how does Evoke target facial fat without any help from needles? Houston plastic surgeon Camille Cash, MD, says, “The device delivers energy to the tissues safely and comfortably. It reaches a target temperature that’s hot enough to result in a noticeable change in fat reduction and skin tightening—much different than just putting a heating pad on your skin and hoping for results.” She explains that the device is heated from a comfortable starting temperature, and gradually increases in heat which makes it easy to tolerate once it reaches the target temperature.
While the effects are immediately visible, the best results require multiple treatments. “It takes a few treatments to have a lasting effect,” says Dr. Levine. “The results are most dramatic in the first 24 hours after you receive the treatment, making it the perfect pre-party procedure—who doesn’t want to be perfectly chiseled and contoured for an event?”
Each consecutive treatment makes your facial features firmer and tighter, explains Dr. Cash and answers the million-dollar question on how long the results will last: “Everybody’s body is different—the younger you are, the quicker you’ll notice a dramatic result because your body is much more metabolically active and therefore produces collagen much faster,” she says.
“Evolve uses the same radiofrequency energy for fat reduction and skin tightening but it’s geared for the body. It also has three technologies: Tite, Trim, and Tone for customized body reshaping,” says Dr. Nazarian. If patients come in wanting to tone and tighten their abs, for example, this machine will become their best friend. It can also sculpt a wide range of body parts like the arms, legs, thighs or even the buttocks.
“Lately, patients have been less inclined to visit the gym because of COVID, and they are seeking alternatives that will help them define muscles, reduce fat, and remodel their bodies,” says Dr. Cash. “During the fat reduction part of the Evolve Trim procedure, patients experience a blowing and vibration in the area. The Evolve Tite procedure delivers skin tightening and feels like a hot stone massage, and during the Evolve Tone procedure, patients experience a series of involuntary muscle contractions which will help refine the appearance of muscles without any physical activity. A combination of all 3 of these treatments provides excellent total body results,” Dr. Nazarian explains.
“Patients usually come in with multiple areas of concern so I talk to them about all their potential options with Evolve and we develop a treatment plan that addresses their concerns,” explains Dr. Cash.
“I recently had a patient come in who wanted a breast augmentation but she also had a little bit of fatty tissue in her abdomen; instead of liposuction (which she wanted to get), I recommended Evolve to tighten the area because it has no downtime and it’s nonsurgical,” she adds. “Evolve will provide her with the outcome she is seeking, and her recovery will be significantly faster and easier than if she were to get liposuction at the same time.”
