Self-made beauty blogger, social media icon and now founder of her own makeup like, Huda Kattan has been in the cosmetic limelight for a few years now—and with her 15.9 Instagram followers only growing by the day, it’s clear she’s not going anywhere anytime soon. While her go-to techniques and must-have products are totally out in the open and shared with her fanbase, she, like others, has been pretty hush-hush about the controversial topic of injections and fillers until now.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan.com, Dubai-based Kattan was asked her opinion on the lip injection trend that’s currently taking the world by storm. “I’ve had it done,” she says about fillers to enhance her pout. “Right before I got into makeup, I felt like my lips were small. They actually weren’t, but I wanted that juicy Angelina Jolie lip.” But, turns out the experience wasn’t all that Kattan thought it would be. “It was the worst thing I ever did. The guy literally ruined my lips. Ever since then, I’ve had fillers to try to fix everything because my lips came out so uneven. I wish I had never done it and gone the lip liner route instead.”

When asked her opinion on it, Kattan goes on to share that, from her perspective, it looks like Kendall Jenner has had her lips done, and says that it shouldn’t be such a big deal. “I think she looks great, but it’s her business, and if she’s had a bit of filler, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. It’s hard being in the public eye. People expect you to explain what you’ve done. People should leave her alone,” she asserts. As for the filler trend that’s growing around the globe, Kattan says that it’s pretty much here to stay. “Women just never think their lips are big enough, even when they are really big. The first thing I always hear from women when they sit down with me is, ‘I need to fill my lips.’ It’s almost crazy how many women say that to me. Before they experiment with Botox or even if they’re considering going under the knife, the first thing they’re going to go into is lip fillers. It’s the gateway plastic surgery procedure.”

Although her bad experience seriously affected her, Kattan also explains how Botox and fillers have dramatically boosted her confidence when injected properly. “I recently had some Botox done by an amazing doctor in New York—best Botox I’ve ever had in my life,” she explains. “I had deep wrinkles around my eyes—too deep for my age, honestly, because I smile too much. Luckily, on my forehead, I didn’t need to do anything. But around my eyes, I needed help. She put a tiny bit of Botox. I still have three tiny wrinkles. That’s all I wanted. You need to go to the point where you need a little bit more, and then stop. If you look too perfect, you’re going to look plastic. You want to look like a beautiful human being.”

If you or someone you know is seriously considering getting any type of injections or fillers (whether in the lips or elsewhere), your first steps should always be doing your homework, knowing what to expect and only entrusting your experience with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for the most unprecedented results and zero reason to worry.
