Attention all television, movie and beauty lovers! The 2024 Golden Globes are officially here. Packed with all of your favorite on-screen stars, the 81st annual television and movie award show is officially underway with tons of A-listers taking to the red—actually, this year, burgundy wine–colored—carpet to debut some stunning glam looks and gorgeous outfits. While we’re excited to see who wins tonight, as beauty lovers, we’re more concerned with what’s trending amongst our celebs as they step out to award shows, especially at the top of new year when we’re all eager to spot the year’s hottest trends from the jump.

The first trend spotted: imperfect updos, which have already taken over the burgundy carpet. From tousled, textured buns to wispy bangs, here’s a breakdown of the stars who rocked perfectly imperfect hairstyles at the most star-studded show of the year.

Natasha Lyonne

While the Pokerface star’s incredible textured gown was surely a showstopper, we couldn’t get enough of Lyonne’s effortlessly tousled hair. Showcasing her natural curls and waves, the star’s hair was casually gathered into a textured updo. The curtain bangs framing her face added the perfect touch, solidifying a look that effortlessly blended casual charm with undeniable elegance.

Stepping out in an all-black ensemble, this action movie star elevated her look with a stunning necklace and high-neck top, drawing attention to her chic pulled-back hair. Brewster’s sleek bun, though elegantly styled, incorporated artfully loose strands that mirrored her face-framing pieces.

Brewster’s hairstylist, Clariss Anya Rubenstein, revealed via Instagram story that an array of Nexxus products were behind the star’s imperfectly perfect ‘do. Some of the products that ensured her look stayed just tousled enough all night long were the brand’s Shape and Define 5-In-1 Multistyler ($13), Comb Thru Mist ($18), Maxximum Firm Hold Hair Spray ($9)

Selena Gomez

The Only Murders in the Building and Rare Beauty founder’s slicked back bun featured tousled and textured sections that solidified that perfectly imperfect look.

Gomez’s hairstylist, Marissa Marino, let us in on the products that she used to create this iconic updo. To prep the hair and ensure optimal shine, Marino went in with Living Proof Intense Moisture Mask ($49) before towel drying the hair and going in with the brand’s Restore Perfecting Spray ($33). After blow drying, Marino used the Dyson Corrale styler straightener ($500), sectioned out Gomez’s hair and secured them up to the crown of her head, then locked in the style with Living Proof’s Style Lab Control Hairspray ($32).

Emily Blunt

To compliment her subtle makeup and golden, bejeweled gown, the Oppenheimer star wore a mid-crown bun, complete with delicate wispy hairs around her face and throughout the bun.

Images on Blunt’s hairstylist Laini Reeves’ Instagram provided close ups of the star’s hair revealed that the bun actually led into a tight braid that was laden with Tiffany and Co crystals. The stylist also shared via Instagram that her “little friends” she used for the star’s updo included her own brand, Burgeon’s, Gorgeous F**cking Hair Ritual ($120)—which includes both a serum and a supplement—and staples salon-grade brand YA-MAN, including their blow dryer, straightener and repair oil.
