Bobs have been a huge trend over the past year, and they’re only getting bigger as more people join the bob squad and a variety of styles solidify themselves as staples. Professional hairstylist Marie Nino predicts we’ll see a mix of structured and effortless bob styles taking over in 2025, so there’s something for everyone.
The Bob Haircut Trends Headlining 2025
Blunt bob
Celebrity hairstylist Angela Calisti predicts that a “chic, blunt straight bob with minimal layers for a sleek look” will have a big moment this year. Celebrity hairstylist Rosibel del Jesus agrees, asserting blunt neck length cuts will be the bob of the year. “Not too short and still able to pull back into a pony or half-up look.”
Co-founder of IGK Hair Care, Leo Izquiero, sees the same trend coming but with a little less length. He predicts sleek, jaw-length bobs will be everywhere, evoking effortless sophistication and European minimalism. “When in the salon, be sure to ask for a blunt bob with soft internal layering for movement. IGK’s new Best Interest Deep Repair Air Dry Styler ($38) is the perfect way to maintain this style’s effortless texture at home.”
Square bob
Boxy bobs are going to have a moment, and they’ve already started to steal the spotlight. “The square bob is perfect for anyone who wants a bold, sharp shape that still feels modern and wearable,” says Nino.
Italian bob
“The Italian bob has that chic, voluminous look with soft layers that give it a relaxed, lived-in feel,” says Nino, who predicts it’ll remain a big trend in 2025. Celebrity hairstylist Ricky Mota especially loves the Italian bob for spring “because it embodies effortless sophistication with a chic, relaxed vibe. Its popularity aligns with the season’s fresh, playful energy and the increasing embrace of low-maintenance styles that still look polished.”
Mota says the versatile cut requires minimal styling and evokes classic icons like Christy Turlington and Monica Bellucci. “To style the look, start by blow drying using one of my favorite volumizing sprays, UNITE EXPANDA Volume ($37), to achieve root lift and full-body, and SMOOTH&SHINE Styling Cream ($34) for softness and shine.”
“The Italian bob is a short, blunt cut that should be worn with a more effortless texture. You will want to ask your stylist for a one length bob, no layering, no elevation. The key to this bob is the heaviness,” says celebrity Hairstylist and R+Co Collective Member Ashley Streicher. “When cut to perfection, it can be worn styled or messy and looks great either way! To take this style to the next level, use R+Co BLEU’s new Ultra Dry Texture Spray ($49) to enhance texture.”
Bob with bangs
“If you’re into bangs, a bob with curtain or blunt bangs adds a cool touch,” says Nino. A bang can be paired with any bob style to add another dynamic, so feel free to mix and max at your stylist’s discretion.
Supermodel volume bob
For those who love volume, Calisti foresees rounded bobs with layers throughout that add movement, paired with bangs for a trendy touch, as the next big thing.
“Inspired by Cindy Crawford’s iconic ‘90s look, this voluminous, textured look is all about achieving a glossy shine and runway-ready bounce,” says R+Co Vice President of Technical Education Adam Federico. “When in the salon, ask your stylist for a textured bob—voluminous, bouncy and glossy.” To achieve model-level volume Izquiero recommends teasing hair gently at the roots with Direct Flight Style Preserving Dry Shampoo ($34).
