3 Hair Brushes Celebrity Hairstylists Swear By
Can a hairbrush change your life? Not likely. Can a hairbrush change your hair? It certainly has the ability to make a big difference. I know since finally caving in and switching to a Mason Pearson, the highly acclaimed boar bristle brush that costs just under an arm and a leg, that my hair is softer and healthier. Which got me thinking about what other hair brushes out there are changing other women's beauty lives, or more specifically, which hairbrushes do celebrity hairstylists love and swear by. To quench my curiosity, I spoke with some of the biggest hairstylists in the biz. Here is what they had to say:
Frank Galasso, Celebrity Hairstylist
"I like the Ibiza($40-$60) brushes and think they're the best out there. They last forever, they're great quality and have cork handles that are easy to grip. I've used Ibiza brushes for years on everyone from Emmy Rossum to Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Williams. The more you use them, the better they become-they wear in, get softer and age really well."
Michael Dueñas, Founder of Hair Room Service and Celebrity Hairstylist
"I LOVE my Mason Pearson ($55-$240). The brushes are made so well, they last forever! I can achieve any style needed when finishing. The bristles are the perfect softness and hardness for back brushing or brushing completely smooth. Having natural bristles makes a huge difference. I have used the brush on Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey and on members from the cast of Glee. It works great for detangling the hair very gently as well-since the bristles have the perfect amount of flex, you do not need to worry about damaging the hair."
Kerrie Urban, Celebrity Hairstylist and Makeup Artist
"I personally use Marilyn brushes ($24-$44). I use them to add volume when blow-drying, but still smooth the cuticle down, which creates maximum shine. I love using these on my curly hair clients (Mariah Carey and Lauren Graham to name a few) to give a smooth, yet bouncy blow-out."
