It’s no secret that balayage has been the new go-to hair treatment for those looking for an easy, low-maintenance color change, but now eSalon (an online hair-color specialist that focuses on delivering personalized color straight to your door) is making this popular hair trend even more no-fuss with its introduction of the highlighting system called Lightlab ($14–$35) that provides customers with everything they need to highlight their hair in the comfort their own bathroom. The best part? Lightlab promises to lighten strands up to three shades in a single application for a super natural look with no need for a salon chair, and each "kit" is personalized to the look you're going for.

Inspired by balayage, which literally means "to sweep" in French, the brand says that Lightlab aims to mimic the way hair naturally lightens with the sun. “With our custom color, we are only able to lift one to two shades depending on where a person starts. This will give them a little lighter color that looks natural and complements their base color,” Lani Kuramoto, vice president of brand marketing at eSalon, tells WWD, explaining that this gives customers the ability to build dimension in their hair, which is exactly what both the balayage and babylights trends have become popular for.

Once you place your order, you will receive a package including the activator, lightener, toning mask and sulfate-free shampoo to prevent your new color from fading, a dual-ended comb and brush, mixing tray and specific instructions including access to real colorists and videos for tips on how to, frankly, not mess up your desired look will also be available. Lightlab will be launching to existing clients at the end of November, while the full launch to new clients is slated for January 2017. And by the looks of its original eSalon results and products, we trust it's worth the wait:
