Simona Tabasco is having a big year. Coming off of her stunning performance in The White Lotus, she’s signed on to do a movie with Sydney Sweeney and has become a global sensation. At the SAG Awards, she wore a strapless Armani Privé gown, which celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis notes gave her a very “‘la dolce vita’ timeless movie star” look. He adds that he wanted to keep “Simona looking timeless and chic by leaving her coveted bob haircut worn down, bouncy and voluminous evoking the glamour of icon Sophia Loren.”
Simona is quickly becoming a red carpet staple this season. For the SAG Awards, Marcus wanted to let Simona’s “own natural beauty come through, not making her hair fussy or structured. Timeless, playful and cool with the vibe.”
To get the look, Marcus began by misting Nexxus Weightless Style Smooth Prep & Protect Leave-In Spray ($12) through Simona’s damp hair from roots to ends. “This look is all about volume,” says Marcus. “Section by section, apply the Unbreakable Care Root Thickening Spray($19).Make sure when you apply the product you take sections evenly throughout the hair so that it’s full coverage and even volume throughout,” he notes. “You can also use this spray on the mid-length to the ends so when you curl hair, it has bounce to the tip."
Marcus shares a pro tip for those not skilled at blowdrying and setting clips. “Curl the hair with a 1/4' iron….start by curling from the ends up.” Then Marcus applied Weightless Style Smooth & Full Blow Dry Balm ($14) from the mid-length to the ends.
"Create a side part, then use a 1/2' round brush to blow dry hair, pinning each section with a setting clip and alternating directions to create a natural bouncy texture,” says Marcus. Then let it set for 15 minutes before brushing through the hair to create loose, bouncy waves. For added texture, Marcus curled the ends upward sporadically throughout, piecing them out with Weightless Style Shape & Define Multi-styler ($13), then locked it all in with hairspray.
