Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland is speaking out on social media after an online article Life & Style speculated about the 26-year-old’s changing appearance since she first came into the spotlight. The article, featuring two side-by-side photos of Sarah in 2013 and 2017, included quotes from doctors who commented on which plastic surgery procedures she may have had done. The actress quickly took to Twitter to deny the rumors and slammed the publication for speculating about her appearance as she privately battles a life-threatening illness.

In a series of tweets, Hyland questions the integrity of the publication for irresponsibly reporting on her appearance and including expert commentary from doctors who could only guess to why she may look different. The actress wrote “I’ve had the worst medical year of my life and to create an entire article surrounding the question of if I’ve had plastic surgery is the MOST insulting thing. Adding insult to injury, you have NO IDEA what I’ve been through.”

Hey @Life_and_Style why don’t you just delete the article about how different I look over the past 10 yrs instead of deleting “drs” comments pic.twitter.com/HUw8xjQevv

In May of this year the actress took to Twitter to address negative comments from her followers about her weight. She disclosed then that she was dealing with a condition that made it very difficult for her to gain weight. Hyland reportedly suffers from kidney dysplasia and received a kidney transplant from her father in 2012. In her response to Life & Style she wrote, “People like you are the reason why young girls feel the need to alter their face. MY face has been altered by LIFE SAVING medication.”

Life & Style promptly deleted the comments from the doctors and added an update on the story that reads: “Update: Post has been edited after comment form Sarah Hyland.” After tweeting her responses to the article, Hyland continued to post images and videos of herself in a sheet mask and assured fans that she wasn’t going to let the article bring her down. She even posted videos joking about all of the plastic surgery she supposedly had done. “I’m so beautiful right now, all my plastic surgery paid off,” said the star.
