Rachel McAdams recently received a long overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. From enduring classics like Mean Girls and The Notebook to her newest project Send Help, the actress has been keeping us entertained for decades. While receiving her well-deserved Hollywood star McAdams’ manicure caught our eye, so we had to ask the nail artist behind the look to share all the details.
“For Rachel’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, I knew that all eyes would be on her hands, so we decided to do an elongated almond nail with a gradient white tip,” says celebrity manicurist and educator Julie Kandalec. “I like to call them a shortcake crème mani!”

To get the look Kandalec recommends using a semi-sheer cool pink gel polish, like Aprés Gel Couleur in Fairy Wings ($15), for the base. Then take a makeup sponge and sponge gel art paint, like one from Mia Secret ($9), onto the tips. This will create a subtle ombré look that feels like a French manicure melted together.
If you’re not super skilled at nail art, you can still get the look. Opt for press-on nails to achieve the trend in a pinch. Kandalec recommends KISS Press-On Nails in Dulcet ($11) to easily nail this look.
