Strand gossip straight from her stylist.

All politics aside, it’s pretty accurate that we can all agree on one thing: Ivanka Trump has amazing hair. The cut! The color! The two things coming together to create a full-on flawless look!

The man who can take credit: Kyle White, lead colorist at Oscar Blandi in New York. His method is very strategic and involves a few steps, but the final product is pretty much perfection. He recently shared with us exactly how he does Ivanka’s hair and how the rest of us can replicate (and keep it looking fresh) on our own.

For starters, White is all about fine-tuned foil highlights. “Ivanka’s blond is created by weaving foil highlights on her natural base color. The highlights are woven with a medium-size thickness and lifted to a pale baby blond. They are also strategically placed in a way that leaves enough darkness at her roots to ensure she won’t look washed out; they then progress into a solid blond ends, which gives that illuminating glamorous effect only very blond hair can do.”

His finishing step: gloss. “We then finish the look off with a clear gloss to lock in color, prevent fading and boost shine.”

White also admits keeping blond hair like this can be a challenge. “The foundation for any hair care routine is a good shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for color-treated hair with low sulfates and high-moisturizing elements—be sure to use one! If you’re using heat-styling tools, be sure to use a thermal protector like Infusium 23 that is also a leave-in treatment with protein and vitamins. And healthy hair holds color better, so do a deep conditioner once a week.”

But White does stress that going the at-home route is not one to take lightly. “Color-enhancing shampoos, conditioners and at home glosses are great products when used properly. They can add warmth, remove brassy tones, and much more but only when under the direction of your colorist. If you’re not sure, then don’t use it. I’ve seen scary things happen when a blond plays with color-enhancing products on her own. Don’t self-medicate, ask the hair-color doctor first.”
