Most onlookers are rightfully in awe of the extravagant high fashion at the highly anticipated New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 (we see you, Meryl), but allow us to shine a light on one of the more subtle red-carpet touches we’re still thinking about: Emily Blunt’s modern red manicure with diamond and pearl floral accents. (Groundbreaking!)
Celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec confirms the manicure was “a no-brainer ode to the film.” In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Blunt reprises her role as Emily Charlton, Miranda Priestly’s assistant turned high-powered fashion executive, and Kandalec drew inspiration from the character when creating the look. “In a film centered around the industry experts and their roles, we know Emily would be well-versed in trends and timeless classics—and this look has an element of both.”
The pop of red is courtesy of Gel by essie in Gala-Vanting ($14.50), a rich maroon, finished with Gel by essie Shiny Top Coat ($13) and diamond and pearl accents for an endlessly elegant floral spring manicure.
But Blunt wasn’t done with red just yet. Her “bold, cinematic red lip,” courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Jenn Streicher and Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Cinematic Red ($37), was “the perfect statement for a memorable night,” says Streicher.
