No, Chrissy Teigen Doesn’t Think Her Nipples Are Risqué

Her latest body comment is candid, funny and deeply on brand.

Chrissy Teigen is never one to let the internet have the final word, especially when it comes to her body. After sharing photos from a shoot with photographer Yu Tsai, in which she wore a sheer white button-up that left her nipple visible, the model and cookbook author responded to commenters who took issue with the look.

Her defense was characteristically candid. “I think because they have been cut into disks and reattached to my body like three times and also they’ve fed babies and stuff I really don’t think of nips (mine especially) as sexy or risqué but my apologies if you do,” she wrote in the post’s comments. “I hope u will survive it. Almost sure u will. Love u so much.”

Teigen didn’t appear to be responding to one specific commenter, but rather to the criticism more broadly. She did, however, reply directly to at least one person who wrote, “Who wants attention???” Her response: “I do. Thank u so much.”

The comment tracks with how open Teigen has been about her breast-surgery history over the years. She previously shared that she first got breast implants at 20, during her swimsuit-modeling days, and later had them removed in 2020 because she was “over it” and wanted to feel more comfortable in her clothes and while lying on her stomach.

More recently, in 2024, Teigen clarified that her history included multiple procedures, saying, “I’ve had a lift, put them in, taken them out. I don’t like them out.” NewBeauty has also covered the moment she showed her breast-lift scars on Instagram, joking about followers zooming in when “the flash hits your boob lift scars.”

That context is what makes her response feel so Teigen. A visible nipple may read as provocative to some, but for her, it’s tied to surgery, breastfeeding and a body she has talked about with unusual candor for years. So, once again, the internet had thoughts and Teigen had a comeback.
