It’s easy to talk down to ourselves, but Pink came through at the perfect time to remind us that our bodies are to be loved, not under-appreciated. In an awe-inspiring Instagram post, the “Just Give Me a Reason” singer shared a photo of herself wakesurfing with the caption, “I always wondered why God gave me thunder thighs. It’s cause he knew I’d use them.”
Social media’s curated content often influences users to see their body in a negative light, but Pink is radiating the energy we never knew we needed, highlighting one very-real truth: Having larger features doesn’t signify a weight issue. Rather, it shows strength and agility—something to be extremely grateful for.
But Pink’s body-positive messaging didn’t start with this post; she’s been a proponent of self-love for years.
In 2017, the singer shared another Instagram photo, which featured herself dressed in workout clothes standing in front of a mirror. “Would you believe I’m 160 pounds and 5’3”? By ‘regular standards’ that makes me obese. I know I’m not at my goal or anywhere near it after baby number two but dammit I don’t feel obese. The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies,” she wrote.
These photos serve as great reminders to even the most critical that feeling good doesn’t revolve around a number on the scale.
