The Buzzed-About Treatment Kim Kardashian West Regrets Getting

We thought she loved it all this time.

It’s been three years, but photos of Kim Kardashian West’s infamous Vampire Facial are still making just as big of a buzz as the day she was seen covered in blood on national television—for the sake of beauty, of course.

The facial, also known as a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, involves applying your own blood (after it’s been spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the plasma) onto freshly microneedled skin. It sounds and looks insane, yes, but the de-aging and radiance-boosting benefits are long. With plumping, glowing and naturally stimulating collagen noted as the treatment’s main takeaways, you’d assume the celebrity has a rolling appointment with her derm, but according to a blog post on Kimkardashianwest.com, this is a treatment you’ll never see her do again.

“It was honestly the most painful thing ever,” she shared, explaining that because she was pregnant at the time (she found out shortly before the procedure), numbing cream or pain killers, both of which are recommended for this type of facial and usually eliminate pain completely during it, were out of the question. “It was really rough and painful for me,” she said, even noting that if there wasn’t a camera crew in the room filming the show, she may have backed out entirely.

However, just because the treatment wasn’t for her, she’s not denying how great it makes your skin look. “I know it has so many benefits for your skin. Kourtney is a huge fan and I know a lot of other people that love it, too.”
