It’s a big awards weekend full of enviable celeb glam and next-level fashion moments. From the SAG Awards to the Independent Spirit Awards, there was much to celebrate. While awards season often means spring is near and manicures are quickly turning pastel, we spotted a few chic celebs still sporting moody winter manicure colors, and we’re into it.
A couple of stars were sporting wine-colored burgundy nails at the Independent Spirit Awards, including Julianne Moore and Elizabeth Olsen. While deep burgundy nails tend to be relegated to the darkest days of winter, these celebs made a case for wearing them into spring.
Emi Kudo, a celebrity nail artist who counts Lady Gaga and Emma Stone as clients, did Moore’s manicure for the show. She opted to revive the beloved nail shape of the 2000s—the squoval. For the polish, Kudo applied two coats of Aprés Gel Couleur in Blood Moon ($15) for a rich wine manicure.
Celebrity nail artist Thuy Nguyen, a favorite of Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor Joy, did Olsen’s nails for the Independent Spirit Awards. She was stuck between three slightly varied shades of burgundy but ultimately went with Aprés Gel Couleur in Royal Stamp ($15) to match her moody lip color.
