We’ve officially and fully entered a new era of celebrity plastic surgery and cosmetic treatment transparency. Now, instead of just admitting to going under the knife, A-listers are giving fans a full breakdown. And for Community actor Joel McHale, he’s telling us how much he’s spent on confidence-boosting treatments. This week, McHale revealed on Mark Normand and Sam Morril’s “We Might Be Drunk” podcast that he’s undergone hair transplant procedures, and even got real about the cost and what he’d do differently.
Joel McHale Gets Real About Hair Transplant Journey
From Ted in 2012 to more recent endeavors like Animal Control, we’ve long known Joel McHale not just for his laugh-out-loud roles, but also for his boyish charm. As it turns out, the 53-year-old has sought some outside help to maintain that youthful radiance in his second act, and he’s not afraid to talk about it.
“Yeah, I’m fully bald … This is four transplants,” the comedian began on Normand and Morril’s podcast. “I did it way back when it was a strip [he said in reference to the technique used]. Painful. Don’t do a strip.” Instead, he recommends the more modern techniques. “Now they pluck it from the whole back section, and it’s a miracle.” After joking about being able to get his pals “a guy” in Turkey if they’re interested in a transplant, poking fun at the medical tourism trend, McHale got serious about the reality of a hair transplant, urging listeners to do their research before booking. “Just make sure because if somebody is like, ‘I’ll do it for $3,000,’ then you don’t. You get what you pay for.” Candidly, McHale reveals that his hair transplant procedure (which he confirms he got in Los Angeles, not overseas) cost upwards of $10,000, but he assumes the price is even higher now.
