Jessica Biel has bid adieu to her long strands for summer, trading them for a blunt-cut, chin-grazing bob. In a TikTok video posted on Sunday, May 19, the 42-year-old actress showcased a before-and-after of her dramatic chop. Fans are now comparing her new hairstyle to her 7th Heaven character Mary Camden’s short hair, which Biel famously sported in the late ’90s to early 2000s.
“Brought back the f— ass Bob 💇🏻♀️,” Biel captioned the video. (The popular phrase has become the trending hairstyle’s nickname.) In the clip, she transitions from wearing a Rolling Stones T-shirt with her long hair to a short bob, styled with a black baseball cap, a chunky gold necklace, and a sleek blazer over a ribbed white top.
Her hairstylist, Anh Co Tran, was equally excited about the new change. He reposted the TikTok video to his Instagram feed, captioning it, “OMG! Yup! We did it!!! @jessicabiel 🔥🔥🔥.” Biel also posted a second video, lip-syncing to the Mean Girls audio: “She’d be like, ‘Why didn’t you call me back?!’ and I’d be like, ‘Uh, why are you so obsessed with me?'”
Biel is certainly in good company when it comes to the bob hair trend. Sydney Sweeney, Katy Perry, and Zendaya, among many other A-listers, have also debuted the hairstyle.
This isn’t the first time Biel’s hair has made headlines this month. Earlier this month, she made waves for lightening her hair to a honey blonde hue for the 2024 MET Gala, before stepping out with platinum blonde hair in New York City just days later.
As buzzy as her hair transformation is, the actress’s TikTok content goes beyond beauty. She’s been active on the platform, sharing her life with nearly 100 million followers. Earlier this month, for example, she gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at her MET Gala prep, uniquely involving a hot bath and a whopping 20 pounds of epsom salt.
“I know some people like to party before Met Ball and party all weekend and I have total respect for that,” Biel said in the video. “This is what I do to get ready for Met Ball.” As she tossed the epsom salt into the tub, she counted aloud, “Four, eight, 12, 16, 20 pounds of epsom salt in a bath. Here we go.”
“With water as hot as you can take it, 30-minute soak the night before, tons of water then, off to bed early,” Biel continued. Epsom salt, made of magnesium sulfate, may help relieve sore muscles, reduce stress, and promote relaxation, whereas magnesium, popular on TikTok, is also widely touted for improving sleep.
