Forget pin-straight styles. Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos is giving Gigi Hadid—and the rest of us—a reason to put down the flat iron.
Meet what the trusted hair guru calls the “C-Curl Girl,” a modern twist on the timeless French blowout that bends it (quite literally) into something fresher and more modern.
“It’s a classic French blowout, but with a nice bend and ‘C’ shape at the ends,” says Giannetos. “Instead of a flat-ironed straight hair look, this is a beautiful blowout with a gorgeous bend. It looks great with curtain bangs and a feathery blunt cut.”
On Hadid, who Giannetos styled with both, the effect is exactly that—effortlessly editorial. “It perfectly suits Gigi’s face shape,” he says. “This look is very modern and fresh.”
And if Giannetos has anything to say about it, the rest of the world will be wearing it soon, too. “The C-Curl is going to be the new hairstyle for the summer!” he says.
Getting there, though, is all about the prep. “In order to create this C-Curl look and make it last, you need to prep the hair very well,” Giannetos explains. After towel-drying, he blew out the hair with a small round brush, then set every strand with a clip and let it cool completely, a key step that locks in the shape.
“At the end, I brushed through the hair with a paddle brush and wrapped the hair around my hand in order to create this shape,” he explains. “I sprayed it with some hairspray to keep it in place.”
The result: a bend that moves beautifully, holds its shape and just may be the first must-have hair trend as we head into summer.
