In an Instagram post, Flipping Out star Jeff Lewis posted a selfie with bags of frozen peas resting on his eyes, a stuffed animal in-hand, and a laughing daughter by his side with caption: “Recovery is going well.”
In an interview with SiriusXM Radio, Lewis recently revealed that he was undergoing a “fat repositioning treatment” on his eyes, Page Six reports, explaining that the star hoped the surgery will make him look rested. “This is kind of a cutting-edge procedure. Normally, they’ll suck out the fat, but this doesn’t require folding of the skin or stitching or pulling,” Lewis says in the interview. “They go inside my eyelid but it doesn’t change the shape of your eye.”
After a procedure like this, Woodbury, NY oculoplastic surgeon David Schlessinger, MD recommends the same icing method as Lewis’ doctor. “We have recommended using frozen peas for years. We suggest patients place frozen peas in plastic bags for the first 48 hours after surgery because it’s inexpensive and easy to make several bags. It’s important to discard the bags at the end of the day as they start to go bad and smell.” After the first 48 hours, Dr. Schlessinger recommends “alternating warm and cool compresses to get the blood circulating and help clear up bruising. Patients can also take Arnica bromelien and vitamin K to help for a more speedy recovery.”
To further help with his recovery, fans took to Lewis’ comments section to post some feel-good humorous content, with one follower saying “She’s alive” and another writing “Best nurse ever,” referring to his daughter by his side, who brought him a blanket and the trustee teddy bear. Other commenters shared their concern: “Take it easy eyes are hard to recover from! But you’re gonna love it!” We can’t wait to see the results.
