If you’re struggling with overgrown roots, no need to panic—you’re not alone! Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives star and long-time L’Oréal spokesperson, may have a tip or two under her sleeve for covering up any unwanted color.

Longoria took to Instagram to produce what L’oréal notes is the industry’s first hair-color commercial shot at home on a smartphone. In the commercial, she shares the honest truth: “I’ve never been this grey in my life.” The solution to her problem? The L’Oréal Paris Excellence Creme ($9) in the shade 4 Dark Brown. She applies the product from “back to front” and follows that by massaging the Creme into her routes and throughout the rest of her hair. After waiting a short thirty minutes, she washes out the color and reaches straight for the blow dryer.

To our surprise, the color came out flawless and all of her grey hairs were completely gone. This was the final push we needed to finally purchase the box dye that has been sitting in our (online) shopping cart for weeks. If you’re not quite ready to die your own hair—which is totally understandable—check out the L’Oréal Magic Root Cover-Up ($8), yet another product that Longoria raved about on her Instagram weeks ago. The temporary color only lasts until your next shampoo and you get great results without even having to wet your hair.

As Longoria says, “There’s no place like home. Plus, it’s always nice to take a little me-time. Self-care is self-worth because now, more than ever, we’re all worth it.”
