Sharp ‘Bixies’

“I think the most popular trend that we’re going to see for fall is shorter haircuts with stronger lines,” says Sharpton, “We’ve had longer, shaggy, softer shapes for a while now, so I think the pendulum will swing the opposite way and shift to more bobs and a lot of very short hair. I definitely think we’re gonna see those stronger lines, including bangs, just be a little more blunt.” Styles like the classic pixie cut and the slightly longer “bixie” cut are sure to take over this season.

Blunt Bobs

Along with pixie and bixie cuts, Sharpton also predicts that the blunt bob will continue to remain popular. Hailey Bieber is one of Sharpton’s predictions for the biggest fall hair inspirations, and the Rhode founder’s blunt bob is one of many we’ve been fawning over for the fall, with Kelsea Ballerini, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya also getting in on the trend.

The ‘Shangri-la’

“This bouncy bombshell look has less face framing and layering than the current shag haircut making it easier to style,” Abramite says of the coined “Shangri-la” hair cut à la Sabrina Carpenter, “This is the ultimate bombshell look with a curtain bang and long layers. There are less ends to manage with big styling results. This cut works best on fine to thick lengths below the shoulders. The curtain fringe gives it its signature bombshell style while the long layers keep weight and density to the bottom line. Ask your stylist to help you grow out your face framing and go for a curtain bang that stands on its own.”

Bitty Bangs

“Bitty bangs are for those who want light wispy bangs, nothing at all like the full commitment of a heavy curtain bang,” says Abramite, “I like these because they’re low-commitment! They’re fun and can easily blend into the remaining style for versatility. Bitty bangs add a vintage kewpie doll playfulness to natural/textured or curly hair without committing to a full bang and are best on naturally textured hair that’s wavy, curly or coily. Fine to thick hair will work for the individual pieces because the density is customizable by the stylist. The bits can be sparse and wispy or thick and defined.” Chappel Roan’s curly front pieces are a great example.

Untamed Cowboy Strands

On the opposite end of the spectrum from Sharpton’s bob and bixie prediction, the stylist also anticipates ultra-long, cowboy-esque cuts trending this fall season. “I think we’re going to see really long hair gaining popularity too—kind of cowboy-like.” As of late, Joey King and Beyoncé are two such celebs to embrace the trend heading into autumn.
