Lake & Skye 11 11 ($98)

“On my wedding day, I had intended to wear ‘Marry Me’ by Lanvin—it’s since been discontinued—but at the last minute, I pivoted and decided to wear Lake & Skye 11 11,” says director of beauty Britt Burhop Fallon. “I had only discovered it a few months before my wedding, but it had quickly become my signature scent.”

A blend of white amber and musk that brings a clean, fresh feeling along with it, 11 11 is a breeze off the ocean and a magical moment all in one.

“Founder Courtney Somer describes it as ‘sheer, clean and uplifting with an ethereal vibe,’ but it’s also incredibly addictive,” Fallon says. “It has that sexy, second-skin quality that works so perfectly as an everyday fragrance, but it’s also special enough for life-changing occasions. The eau de parfum is lovely, but I’m a bigger fan of the OG rollerball oil, which lasts for hours and hours on my skin.”

“I’m planning on having a nontraditional wedding to keep costs low,” says Hogan. “But I got engaged in Mood Ring and I love the idea of wearing PHLUR’s Mood Ring for that nostalgia.”

Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily ($160)

Staff writer Rowan Lynam is has been engaged for over a year, which means she’s had plenty of time to think over the big day.

“My partner and I were first engaged on our fourth anniversary,” Lynam says. “Sometimes life gets in the way, but it has given me a lot of time to think about how I want to look and feel on my wedding day.”

If you’d asked her this time last year, Lynam says she would have a completely different answer than she does now. “I probably would have chosen Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflowers, which is an Eau de Toilette my mother wore when I was really young,” Lynam says. “But these days I wear that fragrance a lot day-to-day, and I think I want my wedding day to be something unique and special that I wouldn’t normally wear.”

That said, she probably won’t stray too far from the way Sunflowers combines delicate florals with deeper, velvety musks.

“I love fragrances that balance feminine and romantic notes with something smoky and deep,” Lynam explains. “A good example is Jo Malone’s Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, which combines traditional Kyara wood incense with a delicate lily and smoky Black Cardamom.”

YSL Black Opium ($160)

Though editorial assistant Isabelle Buneo doesn’t see marriage in their immediate future, it doesn’t hurt to know what you want.

“For me, vanilla scents are the epitome of romance and elegance, so I’d opt for something warm and sweet for the special day, like YSL’s Black Opium,” Buneo explains. “It might be a surprising choice for a wedding scent, but I love the way black coffee and white flowers combine with that warm vanilla.”

This is the perfect scent for the bride that wants to emphasize the romantic, sexy side of their relationship, as this alluring fragrance embodies a warm and spicy mood. The burst of floral at the heart of the scent keeps an edgy scent delicate and romantic, while not shying away from the daring and sensual.

Byredo Mixed Emotions ($225)

Not everyone wants their wedding day to be full of the the expected. If you’re willing to go outside the box for your big day, aesthetic content manager Tatiana Bido might just have the perfect pick for you.

“It’s probably not a scent one would think of for their wedding day, however Byredo Mixed Emotions, with its blend of fruity, green, woody, and musky notes, would be my top pick,” Bido explains.

Mixed Emotions, a woodsy scent that plays with sharp sweetness and comforting notes, makes a complex, thoughtful statement for a bride—one that acknowledges that push and pull of love and embraces the best of both masculine musks and feminine florals.

“It evokes a woodsy, minty forest vibe, and with hints of violet and tea there’s an added fruity softness and sweetness,” Bido says. “It leaves such an intoxicating subtle musk that I’ve even had people stop me on the street to ask what I’m wearing.”
