At this point, a Zendaya press tour is less a promotional obligation than a full-scale fashion event. Each stop brings a new archival pull, an unexpected beauty transformation and, inevitably, another look destined to take over the internet. Her latest appearance was no exception.
For the Shanghai premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Friday, July 24, Zendaya stepped onto the red carpet with impossibly sleek, ultra-long hair—and the two tools used to create it have us ready to splurge on a pair of high-end hairbrushes: Bur Bur’s Nadia Detangling Brush ($72) and Essential Boar Bristle Brush ($72).
Her pin-straight, near-black lengths fell past her hips, finished with cool—and potentially contentious—micro bangs. The dramatic hair more than held its own alongside her archival Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2016 couture gown, styled by longtime collaborator Law Roach. Its web-like design was a fitting nod to the film.
To create the look, hairstylist Ursula Stephen began on clean, wet hair, using the Nadia Detangling Brush to work through knots and prep it for blow-drying. After drying and flat-ironing the hair, she misted it with hairspray, then reached for the Essential Boar Bristle Brush to boost shine, smooth frizz and keep everything sleek and in place all night.
“Zendaya and Law wanted to see those micro bangs again, but thought it would be sexy with super-long hair,” Stephen says. The “again” refers to just four days earlier, when Zendaya first wore the fringe on this Spider-Man press tour in Mexico City, paired with a towering, ’60s-inspired beehive and a black high-neck Ashi Studio Spring 2026 couture gown featuring silk crepe, web-like knit detailing and floor-grazing fringe.
The two looks may share the same micro bangs and a taste for dramatic proportions, but the effect could not be more different. In Mexico City, the fringe felt retro and sculptural; in Shanghai, it turned razor-sharp and almost futuristic. Leave it to Zendaya to make the same beauty idea feel brand new twice in one week. Consider us officially on bang watch for whatever comes next.
