Wellness is no longer a side note in luxury travel, it’s the headline. In a recent survey of more than 500 NewBeauty readers,* spa treatments emerged as essential elements of the modern getaway, with travelers seeking not just relaxation, but full-body rejuvenation.
When asked which treatments are most important during a stay, massage treatments led the pack, favored by 76 percent of respondents, followed closely by facials (54 percent) and body treatments like scrubs and wraps (51 percent).
Access to thermal and spa pools was another top priority, with 57 percent of readers saying it’s a must-have. Hair services, including blowouts and scalp treatments, were valued by nearly 27 percent, showing that beauty rituals don’t take a vacation, even when you do.
Fitness and yoga classes also made a strong showing, with over a third of respondents incorporating movement and mindfulness into their travel routines. And while wellness consultations were less common, selected by 11 percent, they reflect a growing interest in personalized health insights while away.
Beyond the numbers, readers painted a vivid picture of their dream spa experiences. Heated floors, adult-only zones and even cocktail infusions paired with massages were mentioned as ideal amenities. One respondent summed it up perfectly: “I want to feel transformed—not just pampered.”
Whether it’s a sunrise yoga session in Costa Rica or a scalp massage in a private villa in Maui, travelers are seeking experiences that help them press the reset button.
