The Met Gala red carpet usually leans full-glam. Tonight, Misty Copeland and Greta Gerwig proved a more refined approach can be just as impactful, stepping out in full faces of Merit Beauty.
Misty Copeland
Dressed in Michael Kors and dripping in Effy Jewelry, Copeland was a vision of warmth and luminosity. "I really wanted to honor the beauty of brown—warmth, richness, luminosity," said celebrity makeup artist Mali Boykin. "I wanted everything to feel intentional and beautifully considered without overpowering Misty herself."
The base was the brand’s tinted sunscreen, The Uniform ($38), layered lightly for a skin-like finish, followed by The Minimalist ($38) complexion stick in Amber to bronze and sculpt. Day Glow ($32) in Citrine on the high points gave that lit-from-within glow that no flash can fake. Eyes were dimensional but understated with Solo Shadow ($26) in Vachetta, Midcentury and Glacé, and the lip—Signature Lip Liner ($24) in June paired with Lip Blush ($28) in Archival—pulled the look together.

Greta Gerwig
"Greta was wearing a very chic black Stella McCartney dress, so we wanted her to look fresh and glowy with a little emphasis on her eyes," said celebrity makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani. Skin was prepped with the Great Skin Instant Glow Serum ($42) and Priming Moisturizer ($42), then evened out with The Minimalist foundation in Bisque. Flush Balm ($30) in Lusitano brought the cheeks to life.
The eye did the heavy lifting: Solo Shadow in Glacé across the lid and Matchbook smudged and dragged along the lash line to elegantly elongate. The lip was effortlessly understated: Signature Lip Liner in June all over, finished with a dab of Signature Lip ($28) in Maison. Simple, stunning and completely shoppable.
