When makeup artist Daniel Martin—if you didn’t know him before, you do now thanks to Meghan Markle’s viral wedding look—was preparing his kit for the big day, he chose colors and products that would perfectly represent the Princess’s hope of looking timeless, effortless and chic. “She wanted to look like her best self,” Martin told Glamour in an interview.
And that’s exactly how she looked, freckles and all. To even out her skin tone but keep her complexion natural, Martin opted for sheer coverage—just enough to “balance and neutralize any discoloration where needed” for a radiant finish. “Meghan has incredible skin. I started by prepping her skin with a clarifying toner, water-based moisturizer and a Korean sunscreen that also acts as a foundation gripper to lock down foundation. I like to use water-based foundations because it absorbs well into your skin without becoming oily over time.”

Another au naturel pick? Her nude-pink lip. Although Martin isn’t revealing the exact product he used to get the “her lips but better” look, he told Glamour, “I made sure her lips were well hydrated, but I opted for a tinted lip balm that gave color without looking like heavy lipstick. We wanted a natural flush.”
Enhanced with a soft, neutral brown eye—”shades of warm chestnut, cocoa and a smudge of rust into her lash line”—and fluttery lashes, the overall aesthetic is totally swoon—and Royal—worthy.
